Efficiency Now!

Energy efficiency is more important than ever … especially in old existing buildings!

In April 2022, therefore, under the seal of a residential building exemplarily renovated by BSMC and recently distinguished by the “Passive House Award” (Passive House Plus, see picture with street view) , the campaign “Efficiency Now!” was launched by the Passive House Institute PHI. Information on the PHI campaign can be found in the knowledge database Passipedia, the homepage of the International Passive House Association ipha and the International Press Release Efficiency Now.

The recently awarded residential house is described in the Passive House Project Database, on the homepage of the International Passive House Conference – Passive House Award

… also at the International Passive House Conference 2023

“EnergyEfficiency Now!” is also the main topic of the next Passive House Conference 2023, which will take place from 10 – 11 March in Wiesbaden. B. Steinmüller is a member of the conference advisory board.

International Passive House Conference 2021

The 25th International Passive House Conference “Key to Sustainable Building” took place in September 2021 with numerous expert lectures, trade exhibition, competition for energy-efficient buildings, excursions and workshops. As a meeting place for many top-class international experts, the conference enabled an exciting exchange of experiences for building professionals and the curious.

BSMC was present with two expert lectures and two competition entries (Poster Awarded Passive-House-Plus Hamm, Passive-House-Plus-Poster-Aachen). BSMC was one of the active special supporters of the conference – represented by Dr. Bernd Steinmüller in the conference advisory board.

Passive House Award for BSMC

On Sep 10th Dr. Bernd Steinmüller received the *PASSIVE HOUSE AWARD 2021 for the Passivhaus-Plus-Renovation of a residential building. The laudation highlights: “Through the gentle handling of the building fabric, he has managed in a special way to preserve the character of the building and its surroundings. He has also shown that the passive house standard can be implemented with reduced technology, sustainably and economically.” Thanks and honor are also due to the architectural firm Wispler from Paderborn, which brought the renovation to success with commitment and expertise. Bernd Steinmüller Explains Sustainable Refurbishment Concepts

In the main issue “Building Concepts” of the magazine Gebäudeenergieberater (German), Passive House pioneer Dr. Bernd Steinmüller explains under the title “Fit for the Future – Sustainable Energy Turnaround in Existing Buildings” how Passive Houses-Plus differ from mere “Plus-Energy-Buildings”.

He uses the built example to illustrate how the Passive House Plus concept can be implemented in an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable way even in existing buildings, how building owners, tenants, climate benefit, how renewable energies are efficiently used and how building resilience is increased (see also Interview with CSM alumnus Bernd Steinmüller in German).

Almost 5 years of measurement data show that the concept works not only in theory, but also in renovation practice with high accuracy. (Cf. also measurement data in English Poster-Hamm)
